Understanding Cyber Laws and Ethics

Cyber laws are rules created to protect people and organization from digital crimes. They ensure that technology is used responsibly and legally.

In Jamaica, Two major laws protect citizens online:

1.Cybercrimes Act ( 2015): Punishes activities such as hacking, identity theft, and data misuse

2. Data Protection Act (2020): Ensures that personal information collected by companies or institution is stored and used responsibly.

Ethics in cybersecurity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It includes respecting privacy, avoiding spreading false information, and never using digital skills to others.
